Emerging Firm Award

This award recognizes the development, success and contributions of emerging architectural firms. It is given to firms that have shown exemplary promise, clear vision, and defined goals in the practise of architecture. It also celebrates and encourages newly-established firms that have embraced broader, modern types of practice reflecting the changing nature of the profession.


Any AIBC registered firm holding a Certificate of Practice in British Columbia may submit an application. Eligible firms must have been established and licensed within the past 10 years.


Judging Criteria
Each eligible submission will be judged individually on how it reflects the characteristics of a strong, innovative, emerging architectural firm. Submissions in this category will be reviewed with consideration given to the following criteria:

  • Commitment to leadership and excellence;
  • Innovative client services;
  • Excellence in work quality;
  • Effective communications strategies;
  • Creative approaches to sound business and professional development;
  • Support of community and the profession; and
  • Exemplary design and project delivery.

Note: There is no specific weighting for each criterion listed. It remains the discretion of the jury to determine which firms, if any, it considers to be emerging and worthy of this recognition.

Entry Fees

Those wishing to be considered for the Emerging Firm Award must submit a fee of $110 CAD plus GST for each submission.
